L'IGT
Vigneti delle Dolomiti is a third level designation wine region
in Italy. It is located in north-east Italy, in 'Trentino-Alto
Adige' wine region. This viticultural area at the foot of the
Alps is not only very interesting geographically but also
ampelographically. There we find autochthonous varieties in white and
red. In white they emphasize the Nosiola and in red the Marzemino or
the Teroldego (like in this monovarietal).
Visually
a very deep black cherry colour with a evolutionated border (15
month getting old between in stainless steel
vats and barrels). Coloured and slow tears. A first nose for cocoa
and fruits in liquour. A powerfull second
nose : black forest fruits macerated, barrel and black chocolate
hints. Complexity. A
powerfull and alcoholic attack (12'5
% vol.), full bodied
developement with little fruits in liquour (that reminds the liquor
bombon ). End with notes of very ripe fruit but with a polished
tannin.
The
Teroldego variety is produced very locally in the 'Trentino-Alto
Adige' region and rarely comes out of it.
The Teroldego likes light and well drained soils to ripen quietly
(late cycle). How it has been seen in the tasting your style of wine
is based on the potency and structure.
Mm. Elisabetta Foradori proposes a price of 21
euros ($ 24) to accompany solid elaborations
better if you look at Italy. Try this Teroldego with the rabbit in
'Grappa', the goulash, the roe deer with polenta, the trout in all
the sauces and the "Lucanica", a pork sausage.
