2015 started in Douro region with a frigid and arid winter, succeeded by a scorching and parched spring. The arrival of early summer brought cooler than average temperatures, prompting an acceleration in the maturation of the white grape varietals. Consequently, the grapes attained peak ripeness in an opportune manner, exhibiting consistent acidity levels throughout the duration of the harvest.
Douro
is a wine region with extreme temperatures, there are three regions
from the east to the west: Douro
Superior,
Cima
Corgo
and Baixo
Corgo.
Between 'Upper Douro' and 'Abowe Corgo'
is where this Viosinho,
Rabigato, Fernão Pires and
Moscatel
Galego Branco came from, more
specifically of São
João da Pesqueira and Alijó
vineyards,
both belonging to Real
Companhia Velha
cellars.
2015 vintage: Straw
yellow color without defects. Exquisite aromas of roses, lychee,
peach and mango that can remember a Gewürztraminer white. Intense
and aromatic. Powerful mouth, with body and lots of tropical fruit
and floral notes. Acidity and degrees (13'5 % vol. ) so integrated. Enjoyable itching at the end that devours traces of roses
and minerality.
Exuberant
wine on nose that reminds Gewürztraminer
whites
wines. Good relationship quality / price of 4'18
euros.
Good pairing with oriental food (chinese, vietnamese...),
alsacien food, le foie
gras
and mold smear-ripened cheeses. As
curiosity, Fernão
Pires
variety
is also known as Maria Gomes in DOC Bairrada and Moscatel
Galego Branco is also called Small Grain Moscatel in Spain and
France.
